Privacy Policy
Effective Date: August 10, 2026.
Watt Labs Inc. ("Watt," "we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect personal information when you use the Watt mobile app, our website at usewatt.com, and any related services we provide (collectively, the "Services").
By using Watt, you acknowledge that we collect, use, disclose, and protect information as described in this Privacy Policy.
1. Scope of This Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy applies to personal information processed by Watt in connection with the Services.
This Privacy Policy does not apply to third-party websites, apps, devices, platforms, or services that Watt does not own or control. If you connect Watt to a third-party wearable, health, fitness, calendar, app-store, payment, screen time, or device-permission service, your use of that third-party service is also governed by that third party's own privacy policy and terms.
2. Information We Collect
We collect information that you provide directly, information generated through your use of Watt, and information received from third-party services you choose to connect.
A. Information You Provide
We may collect information you provide when you create an account, complete onboarding, contact us, manage your profile, or use Watt's features. This may include:
- name;
- email address;
- account credentials or authentication information;
- demographic or profile information, such as age, date of birth, gender, height, and weight;
- preferences, settings, goals, routines, activity categories, and other information you choose to enter into Watt;
- customer support messages and related communications.
B. Wearable, Health, Fitness, and Activity Data
If you connect a wearable device, health platform, fitness app, or similar integration, Watt may collect information made available through that integration, depending on your permissions.
Watt uses Terra API as a wearable connectivity service provider to help connect, synchronize, normalize, and deliver wearable, health, fitness, and activity data from supported devices and platforms to Watt.
Depending on the integrations you authorize, this data may include:
- sleep data;
- activity and movement data;
- heart rate and related physiological data;
- heart rate variability and recovery-related data;
- readiness, energy, stress, or similar wellness indicators when available;
- workout and exercise data;
- body metrics when available;
- timestamps and time-based records associated with health, activity, and sleep data;
- device, platform, source, or integration identifiers needed to connect and synchronize data.
Watt uses this information to provide time-use, lifestyle, energy, and performance-related insights.
Watt is not a medical device and does not provide medical diagnosis, treatment, prevention, monitoring, emergency health services, or medical advice. Watt's insights are provided for general wellness, lifestyle awareness, time-use awareness, and performance-support purposes only.
C. Calendar and Schedule Data
If you connect a calendar integration, Watt may collect calendar-related information based on the permissions you grant. This may include:
- event titles;
- event start and end times;
- event duration;
- event location when available;
- calendar metadata;
- schedule patterns used to classify time and generate time-use insights.
You can disconnect calendar integrations through Watt or through the relevant third-party service where supported.
D. Location Data
If you grant location permission, Watt may collect and process precise or approximate location information from your device's operating-system location APIs (Apple or Google). This may include:
- latitude and longitude coordinates;
- timestamps associated with location events;
- geofence enter and exit events (when you allow background / "Always" location access, which is required for automatic arrive-and-leave detection);
- dwell duration and motion context used to distinguish stops from travel;
- place identifiers, place names, and formatted addresses resolved through Google Places API and/or Google Geocoding (see below);
- inferred place categories and subcategories used for time-use allocation (for example work, sleep location, gym, or other lifestyle categories).
How we use location. Location is used for automatic activity detection, sleep and work place recognition, geofence-based arrive/leave logging, and time-use classification. We do not sell location data. We do not use location data for advertising, ad targeting, or data-broker resale.
Background location (iOS). On iOS, "When In Use" location supports foreground detection. Always (background) location is needed for geofence monitoring while the app is not open, so Watt can detect arrivals and departures automatically. If you grant only When In Use, or later revoke Always access, automatic background detection is paused or limited.
Google as a location processor. When Watt needs to identify a place from coordinates, our servers send approximate coordinates to Google Places API and/or Google Geocoding. The app does not call Google Places with an API key from the device. Google processes those requests to return place candidates, types, display names, and/or formatted addresses. This may involve a transfer to the United States under Google's Maps Platform terms and data-processing addendum (DPA / SCCs where applicable). We request only the fields needed for place identification and categorization (we do not request photos, reviews, phone numbers, or opening hours for this purpose).
Sensitive place inferences. Inferred categories may occasionally relate to sensitive contexts (for example a hospital or clinic mapped as health-related, or a place of worship). We treat this carefully: we do not use such inferences for advertising or third-party marketing, and we do not put place names in push-notification copy that would reveal a sensitive visit.
Your controls. You can:
- turn location tracking off in Watt (Senses / location settings) — Watt stops geofence monitoring and stops ingesting new location visits where supported;
- revoke location permission in iOS or Android settings;
- delete individual known places in the app where that control is available;
- export your account data (including location-derived records) or delete your Watt account.
Disabling location permission or in-app tracking stops new collection where supported. Data already stored may remain until you delete it, delete your account, or we purge it under our retention practices (see Data Retention).
E. App Blocking, Screen Time, and Accessibility Information
Watt may offer app blocking, screen time, focus, or distraction-management features that allow users to select apps, websites, app categories, schedules, focus periods, or duty periods where access should be limited.
These features are optional and require user permission or platform authorization. If you do not enable these permissions, Watt's app blocking, screen time, or focus features may not work.
On Android, Watt may request Accessibility Service permission to support app blocking features selected by the user. When enabled, this permission may allow Watt to detect the app currently shown on screen so Watt can enforce user-defined blocking rules during focus periods, scheduled duty periods, or other app blocking sessions selected by the user.
On iOS, Watt may use Apple's Screen Time, Family Controls, Managed Settings, Device Activity, or related Apple frameworks to support app blocking, screen time, focus, or distraction-management features selected by the user. Depending on Apple's platform design and permissions, Watt may receive limited information, tokens, identifiers, usage signals, schedule events, selected app information, selected website information, selected category information, or restriction status information needed to provide the app blocking feature.
Watt uses app blocking, Accessibility Service, Screen Time, and related permission data only to provide the app blocking, focus, screen time, and distraction-management features enabled by the user.
Watt does not use this information for advertising, does not sell this information, and does not share this information with third parties for advertising or marketing.
Users can disable Android Accessibility Service permission at any time in Android Settings. Users can manage or disable iOS Screen Time, Family Controls, Managed Settings, Device Activity, or related permissions through iOS Settings or Apple-provided controls where available. Disabling these permissions may prevent Watt's app blocking or screen time features from working properly.

4. Automated Analysis and Insights
Watt uses algorithms, automated analysis, and software-based calculations to classify time, analyze lifestyle patterns, generate scores, and provide personalized insights.
To generate certain personalized insights — for example your daily "Day Overview" — Watt shares a minimized snapshot of relevant data with our AI processor as described in Section 5.A below.
These insights are informational and may be based on incomplete, delayed, inaccurate, or unavailable data from connected devices, integrations, user inputs, permissions, operating systems, or third-party services.
Watt insights are not medical advice, professional health advice, or a substitute for consultation with a qualified healthcare provider. You should not disregard medical advice, delay seeking medical advice, or make medical decisions based on Watt.
If you believe you may be experiencing a medical emergency, contact emergency services immediately.
5. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information.
We may share information in the following limited circumstances:
A. Service Providers
We may share information with vendors and service providers that help us operate the Services, including hosting, infrastructure, analytics, communications, security, customer support, wearable connectivity, data synchronization, subscription management, and purchase validation.
These providers may include:
- Terra API, which helps Watt connect to supported wearable, health, fitness, and activity data sources;
- RevenueCat, which helps Watt validate purchases, manage subscription entitlements, and restore purchases;
- Apple or Google, when you purchase a subscription through the App Store or Google Play;
- Anthropic PBC, an artificial-intelligence service provider that processes a limited, minimized snapshot of wellness-related data (such as sleep timing and duration, summarized wellness scores, and lifestyle activity metrics) solely to generate Watt's personalized "Day Overview" insight. Calendar event titles and other free-text you enter are redacted before this data is shared. We do not send your name, email address, or account identifiers to Anthropic. This processing is covered by a HIPAA Business Associate Agreement and Anthropic's Commercial Terms (including their Data Processing Addendum). Anthropic is contractually prohibited from using API customer data to train its underlying models.
- Google Places API / Google Geocoding, which help Watt resolve coordinates into place identifiers, names, and addresses for activity detection (sent from Watt's servers only);
- Amazon Web Services (AWS), which hosts and stores Watt application data, including location-derived records where you use location features;
- hosting, infrastructure, analytics, security, and technical service providers that help us operate and protect the Services.
Service providers are authorized to process information only as necessary to provide services to us or to you, subject to applicable legal, contractual, and platform requirements.
B. Third-Party Integrations You Connect
If you choose to connect Watt with a third-party wearable, health, fitness, calendar, screen time, app blocking, or similar service, we may exchange information with that service as needed to provide the integration and based on the permissions you authorize.
For wearable, health, fitness, and activity integrations, Watt may use Terra API as the connectivity layer between Watt and the third-party device, platform, or data source you choose to connect. This means Terra API may process information from connected services as needed to authenticate the integration, synchronize data, normalize data, maintain the connection, and deliver authorized data to Watt.
If you enable location features, Watt may also exchange approximate coordinates with Google Places / Geocoding as described in Section 2.D.
For app blocking and screen time features, Watt may use Android Accessibility Service, Apple Screen Time, Family Controls, Managed Settings, Device Activity, or related platform frameworks to provide the features you enable.
Your use of third-party integrations is also subject to the privacy policies and terms of those third-party services.
C. App Store and Payment Platforms
If you subscribe through Apple's App Store or Google Play, your payment is processed by Apple or Google. Watt receives limited purchase and subscription status information needed to provide premium access, but we do not control Apple's or Google's independent billing systems, payment methods, refund decisions, or account-level payment data.
D. Legal Compliance and Protection
We may disclose information if we believe it is reasonably necessary to:
- comply with applicable law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request;
- enforce our agreements and policies;
- protect the rights, privacy, safety, or property of Watt, our users, or others;
- detect, prevent, or address fraud, security, or technical issues.
E. Business Transfers
If Watt is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, sale of assets, or similar transaction, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to appropriate protections.
F. Aggregated or De-Identified Information
We may use and share aggregated, anonymized, or de-identified information that cannot reasonably be used to identify you. This may be used for analytics, research, product development, benchmarking, or business purposes.
6. Consumer Health Data
Watt is a direct-to-consumer wellness platform. Watt is not a HIPAA covered entity or business associate, and information you provide to Watt is not "protected health information" under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) unless it was received from a HIPAA covered entity acting in that capacity. Watt nonetheless applies administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to meet or exceed HIPAA-grade security standards for the health-related information it processes, as described in Section 7 (Data Security).
Some information Watt collects or generates may be considered health-related data, wellness data, biometric-related data, fitness data, or consumer health data under applicable laws.
This may include sleep data, activity data, heart rate data, heart rate variability, stress indicators, recovery indicators, workout data, energy-related insights, body metrics, and other information derived from connected wearables, health platforms, fitness services, or user inputs.
We collect and use this information to provide Watt's wellness, lifestyle, time-use, energy, and performance-related features.
We do not sell consumer health data.
We do not use consumer health data for targeted advertising.
We do not share consumer health data except as described in this Privacy Policy, including with service providers, connected integrations you authorize, legal compliance recipients, or business transfer recipients.
Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have the right to access, delete, correct, or withdraw consent for certain consumer health data processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at contact@usewatt.com.
7. Data Security
We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure.
Access to personal information is limited to personnel, contractors, and service providers who have a legitimate need to access it to operate, support, secure, or improve the Services.
However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of information.
8. Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Services, maintain your account, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, prevent fraud, and maintain security.
Health, wearable, calendar, activity, app blocking, screen time, permission-status, and account data are retained as needed to provide Watt's core features unless you delete your account, disconnect an integration, disable a permission, or request deletion, subject to legal and operational retention requirements.
Location-derived records are retained as needed to provide Watt's location and time-use features: resolved location activities and active known places for the life of your account; soft-deleted known places for up to 30 days then permanently removed; raw coordinates and place details on resolved visits purged after 90 days (the visit record may remain for activity history); unresolved or ambiguous visits removed after 30 days; transit evidence and unused sleep-location samples after 14 days. Client-side location queues are cleared after successful sync, drop items older than 7 days, and are cleared on account deletion or logout where supported.
Subscription and purchase records may be retained for as long as necessary to maintain your subscription access, restore purchases, provide support, comply with legal, accounting, tax, fraud-prevention, and platform obligations, and resolve disputes.
If you delete your Watt account, we will delete or de-identify personal information under our control, subject to legal, security, fraud-prevention, transaction-record, and backup retention requirements.
Apple, Google, RevenueCat, Terra API, connected wearable or health platforms, calendar providers, screen time platforms, and other third-party providers may retain certain purchase, billing, transaction, integration, account, device-connection, permission, or platform records according to their own legal obligations and privacy policies.
9. Your Choices and Rights
Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have the right to:

10. Device Permissions and Integrations
You can manage app permissions, including health, fitness, calendar, notifications, location, Accessibility Service, Screen Time, Family Controls, Managed Settings, Device Activity, and related permissions through your device settings or platform-provided controls where available.
You can also disconnect wearable, health, fitness, calendar, or other third-party integrations through Watt or through the relevant third-party service where supported.
If you disconnect a wearable, health, fitness, calendar, screen time, app blocking, or other integration, Watt will stop collecting new data from that integration where supported. Data previously collected may remain in your account unless you delete it, delete your account, or request deletion, subject to legal and operational retention requirements.
Disconnecting an integration from Watt may not delete information already held by the original third-party service, Terra API, Apple, Google, RevenueCat, calendar providers, wearable providers, screen time platforms, or other providers. Their retention and deletion practices are governed by their own privacy policies and account settings.
Location. You can enable or disable Watt's location tracking in the app and manage OS location permission (including Always vs When In Use on iOS) in device settings. Revoking Always access pauses background geofence detection. Turning tracking off in Watt stops native geofence monitoring and new visit ingestion where supported.
11. Communications

Watt is not directed to children under 13 years old, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without appropriate consent, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.
13. International Users
Watt is operated from the United States. If you access the Services from outside the United States, your information may be processed and stored in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate.
Data protection laws in these countries may differ from those in your country of residence.
14. U.S. State Privacy Rights
Residents of certain U.S. states may have additional rights under applicable privacy laws, including rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of personal information, and to opt out of certain data practices.
